The Ocean

A description of a woman wanting someone to love her

Photo by Jason Weingardt on Unsplash

The ocean is a woman of great depth;
She has boundless horizons and trenches.
She touches the sky with her waves and breadth;
Her waves lap the land and destroy quenches.

From her depths and vast breadth, she begets life.
Her moon nudges gently with a small spark.
A gull screeches cutting as a sharp knife.
The ocean stands firm, preparing for dark.

The ocean sinks into bottomless gloom.
Her belly is full of sailors and ships —
Sailors with dreams of love who met their doom.
The sailors drowned with love right at their fingertips.

Will she be left alone in her damp state?
She ebbs and flows searching for a mate.
